Term 4 Unit

This term we are looking at successful Kiwis in the global world. Student will have a chance to research a person of their choice and present their findings to the class.

Everyone has a school diary this term and it is expected that they read each night for 20 minutes and getting it signed off.

In P.E. students are practicing for athletics in Week 3. Everyone must have P.E. gear on a Monday and Thursday.

Term Four Week One!

Week one has been another week for congratulations.

Room 13 has done amazingly well in the short story competition. These were our results.
1st, Ruby
2nd, Sabine
3rd =, Ellie & Lucy W.

Commendations:

Lucy U, Matty, Hugo, Sam, Bailey, Paul, Sophie, Emma D.

Congratulations to Sam for getting lots of certificates for running.

1st in the Year 8 boys inter school cross country ( he got two certificates for this race).

His relay cross country team was 1st at the inter school cross country relays. This team also
included Benedikt and Tom from room 13 and Angus of Room 3.

The Year 8 boys from NIS came 3rd overall at the inter schools.

Sam also went to the Inter-Regional Cross Country in Hamner Springs. The best runners from Tasman, Canterbury and Wellington participated. It was a hard race and all the runners tried their best. In the end Sam came second, this is an amazing achievement. Sam beat lots of very talented runners to claim second place, moving up from his third place last year.

Term Three!

At the moment in Room 13 we are doing speech's, short story's and a group of students are going to mathix. For speeches we have to write a two minute speech on an issue. These issues range from smoking to animal cruelty to global warming. At the beginning of the term Ms Urlich set up a short story competition. The story's had two and a half to six pages long. Tonight a group of students are going the Nelson Mathix competition. We will inform you of the results at a a later date.

Our topic for Term Three has been 'Careers'. On Tuesday this week we presented the work we had done on a particular career we are interested in pursuing, at our 'Room 13 Careers Expo'. These are some pictures of students from Room 13 and their presentations.
